POLITICAL AWARENESS & INVOLVEMENT

Our 22 dynamic founders participated in the Suffrage March of 1913, just two months after Delta Sigma Theta was established.   This commitment to service through Social Action has remained, keeping the sorority at the forefront of social and political issues for our communities.

Delta Sigma Theta has become recognizable as a force in the movement for equal political, educational, and economic rights for all Black people.  Chapters and members are engaged in a variety of social action activities focused on empowering our communities and protecting the most vulnerable amongst us.

The NAC Social Action Committee has established programs designed to build relationships with our local politicians and public officials in efforts to provide effective advocacy on behalf of our communities.  Similarly, our goals include ensuring that our voices are heard by elected officials to enact changes to unfair legislative practices and to have a seat at the table to provide input for decisions that affect our neighborhoods.  Empowering the community through informational sessions, workshops, movies, and more engaging and interactive activities is always a huge for this committee.

Events and activities include:

·       Voter Registration Drives/ Meet the Candidate Forums
